B. Spirit Magic Items
These items contain a bound spirit and are strictly regulated.
Spirit items divide into three sub-types:

I. Sentient Spirit Items (Humanoid Spirits)
These contain a fully sapient soul, capable of:
Memory
Emotion
Moral judgment
Independent will

They can:
Speak (audibly or mentally)
Refuse commands
Influence their wielder
Form bonds—or rivalries

II. Non-Sentient Spirit Items (Animal Spirits)
These items contain animal or bestial spirits.
They:
Do not reason
Do not speak
Act on instinct and emotional resonance

Common traits:
Heightened aggression or protectiveness
Emotional feedback (fear, hunger, territoriality)
Limited loyalty

Examples:
Spirit-bound bows
Totemic blades
Guardian amulets
They are:
Legal if ancient
Illegal if newly bound without a license
Often unstable if poorly matched to the wielder

III. Temporary Spirit Items
These are ritual-bound spirits, summoned for:
A specific task
A defined duration
A narrow purpose

Key rules:
The spirit must be released
Binding duration is fixed
Consent is ritualized and witnessed

Used for:
Siege magic
Emergency healing
Warding cities
Short-term spirit labor
Abuse of this category is one of the most prosecuted magical crimes.
